Pork and cabbage stew is a favourite Bulgarian food traditionally served throughout the winter months. Delicious and warming it usually has some red pepper sprinkled over it before eating. I our house we sprinkle it straight from the packet with a little tapping. On this occasion the little tapping didn't tempt the pepper out so the a slightly stronger tap was used. With this a great wedge of red pepper spilled out onto the plate of stew. We managed to salvage it by sharing the now dampened pepper onto other plates of stew. It was now the thought of buying purpose built pepper disperser with this bout of bad luck.
I hv an identical set of dispenser for my salt n sugar. Side by side they stood for years. Once when I was making french toast for breakfast, I picked up the wrong one. I didnt noticed until I took a bite - yaks ! It was so salty to the point of being bitter. Well, that taught me to pay attention the next time !
ReplyDeleteI also hv the bad habit of tapping spices out of the little Connimex pots n quite often, too much fell into the cooking pan .. sigh ..
