Water And Electric Problems

Lightning over Pentagon City in Arlington, Vir...Image via Wikipedia

Woke up this morning no electricity, not a good start to the morning. It came back on just before midday. Then to top it off the water was cut off just after lunchtime and didn’t come back on until after 7:00 in the evening. Thunderstorms don’t help I suppose.

Mobile Phone Credit Gone

Mobile Phone Credit Gone

I set the alarm on my mobile phone just before I go to bed every night. This particular night I found that that the battery was flat after having it fully charged over night, every night. I also found that the small amount of credit that I had was no longer there. I must have had the key lock disabled somehow and the memory showed that a number was accidentally dialled when carrying the phone around. More money needed from bad luck.

Poison Sprayed In The Face

Poison Sprayed In The Face

I was spraying the crops as a swarm or beetles were invading my aubergines and potatoes and all was going very well when suddenly a great gust of wind with a change of direction took the spray and sent it straight into my face. I tasted awful and I had to stop what I was doing and wash it all off under cold water form the tap. The wind plays dirty tricks all the time with smoke in my face and has now learnt that poison spray in my face is just as fun.

Too Salty

too saltyImage via Wikipedia

A barbecue was made today as I took the marrow that was to be cooked from the tray where it had been salted to remove most of the moisture. Looking at it I couldn’t see any trace of salt as the water was drained off. It wasn’t until it was cooked and we began eating it that we realised that the salt should have been wiped off the marrow. We couldn’t eat it, as it is too salty.

Dripping Aryan

Dripping AryanImage via Wikipedia

Stirring a carton of yoghurt with a fork this morning to make some Ayran for breakfast. I do this every day and have had no problems until now. As the stirring went on the fork somehow pierced the bottom of the plastic carton and the Ayran began pouring out of the bottom over the work surface and run off onto the floor. There must have been a weak point in the plastic for this to happen as the fork I was stirring it with did not have any downward pressure forced on it.

Lost Book Sale 'Simple Treasures In Bulgaria'

Lost Book Sale 'Simple Treasures In Bulgaria'A few days ago, someone promised to buy the book I wrote called Simple Treasures In Bulgaria. I made the mistake of keeping a copy in my farmhouse on the bookshelf with all my other favourite books. This someone found the book on the shelf and read it all and then didn’t want to buy the book as it had been read. Effectively I lost a sale because of that. Bad luck costs you money and I will now prevent this from happening again by taking the book off my bookshelf before any other guests arrive.

Bulgarian Traffic Police Fine Me

Bulgarian Traffic Police Fine MeaImage via Wikipedia

Off to Burgas today to take guests back to the airport. The journey there was fine, but I got stopped on the way back by traffic police. They claimed I didn’t stop at a junction before turning right. I explained that I could see both ways and the way was completely free of traffic and was safe. They wouldn’t have it saying that if a sign says stop, you stop! They took my licence and fined me 100 Bulgarian Leva, which had to be paid in the Yambol Police station within for days. Most Bulgarian drivers never stop at this point; I was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Window Open Mosquitoes In

Window Open Mosquitoes InImage via Wikipedia

It looked like a day of good luck today. The sun was out the crops were growing well and we had a great night of sleep with some breeze that came through the window we had open at night. We were only to discover later that day that mosquitoes that came in the bedroom at night had bitten us. It was out to the ship today for some anti-mosquito plug-ins for the bedroom sockets tonight.

Muddy Feet

Muddy FeetImage by colorblindPICASO via Flickr

Another day where the weather has given us a blistering day and the clothing we wear is basically sandals, shorts and a t-shirt. Today though we had to go through some rough grass to reach a friend’s house and found that there was a hidden natural spring in the middle of the field. The luck was that we didn’t discover this until our feet sunk up to and beyond out ankles in the mud that is had created. It was a squelch for the rest of the walk and a request for a foot shower at our friend’s house.

Five Minutes Too Late

BEIJING, CHINA - NOVEMBER 7: Commuters crowd ...Image by Getty Images via Daylife

We were due to go to Skalitsa today to water the crops, but the car was being repaired at the garage so we had to catch a bus. We didn’t know the times so just turned up. On arrival at the bus station we found that we had just missed on by five minutes and the next was 4 hours later. We cancelled our trip as we couldn’t wait that long. Five minutes earlier we would have been fine.

Swinging Garage Door

An example of sectional-type overhead garage d...Image via Wikipedia

It was a very warm and sunny lunchtime today as I parked the car on the pavement outside the house – All Bulgarian cars park on the pavement in our road. As I walked to the yard gate a big gust of wind took next door’s garage door into a violent swing and smashed into the back of my car with a great crash. There is now another dent from this impact to add to the collection that is already there from it happening before and me not knowing about it.

We also did make any provisions and store any as we normally do. So it was off to Galia office to use the toilet and bathroom facilities there.

Gas Leak

Gas LeakImage by Getty Images via Daylife

Bad luck continues to follow me around as I set off for Burgas to pick someone up from the airport. After about 50 kilometres the car grinds to a halt. The panic is on as I know nothing about cars stuck in the countryside with not assistance that I can cal upon. I have an hour before the plane gets in. It is a passing driver who stops and assists me. He discovered that I had run out of gas. I had filled up before I left so this was a mystery! Anyway I had a little petrol and switched fuels, enough was there to get me to Burgas and top up. Looks like my gas system has a leak – More expense in fuel and repairs, but then that’s what cars were invented for!

Ripped Herb Teabag

Ripped Herb TeabagImage via Wikipedia

Herb teabags come in a box in pairs. You have to tear the bags along the perforated joining section to separate them fro one cup of tea. This morning I have tot do this but the perforations where not there. I tried to tear it gently but the rips impinged the sealed herbs and the herbs fell out of the bag. I did not have a tea strainer so this had to be thrown away – I hate waste!

Hoof on Foot

A domesticated horseImage via Wikipedia

My neighbour’s horse was still outside grazing and the sun had gone down. It thought he had been delayed at work so I took the horse back to his stable for him. As I walked the horse into the stable it trod on my foot with its hoof, I only had sandals on. Ouch! This was a heavy horse and I no have to endure pain for a day or so. Why do these things happen when you try and help someone?

Tumbler Just Did That - Tumble!Image via Wikipedia

I now know why the call tall glass drinking containers tumblers. As I took one out of the kitchen cabinet to fill up will lemonade, it slipped out of my grip and tumble onto the ceramic floor. I shattered everywhere and it was out with the vacuum cleaner to pick up the dangerous glass splinters. My simple tumbler of lemonade was delayed by some 20 minutes whilst cleaning up. Perhaps if they weren’t called tumblers this wouldn’t have happened.

Yet Another Flat Tyre

Flat tire.Image via Wikipedia

Yet another flat tyre on the Lada happened today. Every few months I seem to get one. This time it was the rear right hand side. I could see a nail that was embedded when the spare tyre was put on, it should be repairable as it is in the tread not the sidewall. Another trip to the garage and more time and money on cars, something of a pet hate of mine.

Flapping Slippers

My slippers that are worn in the house every day have lasted well until today at lunchtime. Walking into the bathroom the right slipper caught the ceramic step and the rubber sole was torn away from the upper material. The result was a flapping slipper every step I took. Whether is can be repaired is doubtful, another inconvenience and expense looming not doubt.

Lost Pay Per Post Job

PayPerPost

Working on the land early this morning I had to be back in the house to complete a pay per post blog assignment before 10:00 as that was the deadline and I would lose the chance after this time. After working like a Trojan for two hours ~I arrived back at the house at 9:40 only to find that there was no electric. It didn’t come back in until 12:20 – The job was lost because no electric, no Internet and my rushing were a waste of time.

After cutting my finger slightly in the garden today I went to get a plaster to put on it from the kitchen. The box of plasters was found in the draw and as I opened it the side of the cardboard box cut my thumb! I now needed two plasters from the now blood stained box. How ironic can bad luck get?

Locked Out

A garden gate in LondonImage via Wikipedia

It was a trip back to Yambol this evening and as I arrive around 8:00 in the evening full of fresh food from the farmhouse I was looking forward to seeing the family again after three days of being away. As I tried to get in the yard the garden gate was locked so I rung the bell. There was no one in! What made it bad luck was that I didn’t have a key, which I normally keep on me. I had to wait 20 minutes before one of the family came back from voting in the European Elections.

Pet Mice

I went to get my boots form the summerhouse in the village today and found that mice had nibbled away one of the innersoles. Before I can wear them now I need to buy some new innersoles as the rubber is showing. More poison was put down in the hope this wouldn’t happen again.
